Do you have a Bosch or Siemens dishwasher and have observed a decrease in the efficiency of its work? If you have a problem with heating water or drying dishes, and error code E09 appears on the display of the device, you should not neglect this. Check out how to deal with this malfunction and restore the normal functions of the device.

Error E09 in the BOSCH and Siemens dishwasher - what does it mean?

Error E09 in Bosch and Siemens dishwashers indicates problems with obtaining the right water temperature, as a result of which the dishes are washed in cold water and remain wet after the end of the cycle. Contrary to appearances, seeing this message does not mean that you have to invest in a new dishwasher. It happens that the problems are temporary and can be solved by resetting the equipment.

Symptoms of a faulty heater in the dishwasher

Water heating in Bosch and Siemens dishwashers is the result of the cooperation of several elements, such as: control module, heater and temperature sensor. Maintaining the efficiency of all these parts allows you to obtain the set temperature values.

Defective heater in the dishwasher - symptoms:

  • Flow-through heater does not heat water — if the heater does not heat the water, the dishes will not be thoroughly tamped, and greasy dirt will remain on their surface.
  • The inside of the dishwasher is wet after the cycle — lack or incorrect drying is the primary sign of a heater failure.
  • The dishwasher makes unusual sounds — tapping, knocking and other unusual sounds may indicate problems with the heater.
  • The heating element has changed shape or structure — the burnt heater is visible at a glance so, if you can, check that its surface has not been damaged.

And where is the heater in the dishwasher? In most models, it is located in the lower part of the device, under the washing compartment, but it happens that it is invisible without dismantling the lower part of the dishwasher. It should be noted here that Bosch and Siemens dishwashers are most often equipped with a washing pump integrated into the heater. Consequently, damage to the heating element is associated with the replacement of the pump — even if it is fully operational. Another solution used by the brands of the BSH group (Bosch, Gaggenau, Neff and Siemens) is a flow-through heater with a water flow divider.

Dishwasher Bosch error E09 - models with integrated washing pump

For models equipped with pump-heaters, it is worth remembering the need to drain the remnants of water from the tank. There should be no traces of moisture or any deformation in the tank, as this will quickly lead to leaks. For this reason, the manufacturer recommends replacing not only the pump-heater, but also the tank - only then you can be sure that the elements will remain tight.

  1. First of all, it is necessary to check the heater, specifically the condition of the insulation of the wires. Check that the wiring harness has not loosened and is correctly routed from the plug of the heating element all the way to the control module.
  2. Make a measurement of the resistance of the heater - the damaged part may have too low or, on the contrary, an infinite value of the electrical resistance (the correct value is about 25-30 Ohms).
  3. Check the control module. If the flow heater has a faulty relay, it will not get a signal from the programmer. The cause of this state of affairs may be burnout or violation of solders.

If you are unable to determine the source of the problem, you need to consult a specialist. Repair costs can be different, but in most cases it is profitable to replace the heater. If you want to save on service, place an order with the manufacturer of heating elements Sinkoplex. The manufacturer will tubular heaters, micanite band heaters or Mikanite Flat Heaters on the basis of the supplied technical specification, and you will be assured that the designed part fully complies with the technical parameters described in the product data sheet.
